Fashion stylist Pernia Qureshi stepped into the limelight last year after styling young fashion icon and lead actress Sonam Kapoor head-to-toe in Dior for “Aisha” the Bollywood version of the movie “Clueless.”
On May 18, Qureshi premiered (online) what she claims is India’s first fashion film, shot and directed by “Aisha” associate director Karan Boolani.
The 2minute film was created to capture the experience and luxurious personal styling of Qureshi, where she curates her own version of an eclectic night in New Delhi. The story narrates an intimate evening, with a fabulous host, his elegant friends and a particularly mysterious guest. For After Hours, Qureshi has developed a mix of personas by combining models with her own friends. So while keeping their personal styles in mind, Qureshi has enhanced and reinterprets their looks. The clothing used to style the film are a diverse mix of vintage Tarun Tahiliani, two-seasons-old Marc Jacobs, something from Atsu, Miu Miu and even Zara.
Im my opinion, I think….. the film falls flat. It her film suffers from an underwhelming lack of focus in terms of storyboard, styling and cinematography.
Pernia Qureshi has previously worked with India’s top designers, including JJ Valaya and Tarun Tahiliani, on their campaigns, look books and fashion shows. She has also worked with Harpers Bazaar India.
